A ramen shop Yottekoya

I had ramen with my son at Yottekoya near our guesthouse for the first time in a long time.

My son likes Yottekoya very much because he likes ramen and he orders a child set, and he always gets a toy.

My son and husband went to the Yottekoya with guests who stayed in our guesthouse. I heard from my husband that they were very pleased. If you stay in our guesthouse, Won't you go to Yottekoya with us?

Fujinomori-jinja Shrine

I went to Fujinomori-jinja Shrine with my son on May 3rd. That is near our guesthouse.
It was just the time of the Fujinomori festival. The festival is held from May 1st to 5th, every year.

There were many kinds of night-fair at the shrine.

My son enjoyed traditional games and eating snacks there. I feel as if one had been transported 30 years ago.

I look forward to going for a hydrangea festival held in the beginning of June in Fujinomori-jinja Shrine.

Fushimi Otesuji shopping street

I went to Fushimi Otesuji shopping street with my family.

There are many kinds of stores there such as sweets shops, flower shops, coffee shops and supermarkets.
When I was a teen, I went to the shopping street frequently. Many of the same shops as there were 30 years ago were still there, so it was nostalgic.
It was crowded with a lot of local customers but there were few foreigners.

I found a new and unique store named Fushimi Sakagura Kouji. The meaning of Sakagura is brewery of sake but they are 5 restaurants and sake of 17 breweries.
My son said, "I definitely want to eat something here!" so we decided to eat lunch.

We went to a yakitori restaurant. Yakitori is Japanese style grilled chicken. My husband ordered a charcoal grilled bowl. My son and I ordered ramen that were from another shop, but the clerk of the ramen shop served ramen for us.

There was a lot of other foods and many types of sake, so I want to go there to have dinner with my friend who likes to drink.

After lunch, I took my son to a hair salon. The hair salon is one of my favorites because the hairdresser is friendly and the building is Machiya style, which are traditional wooden houses. The ceiling is high and it is calming.
My son looked cool after his hair cut.

After we finished at the hair salon, we ate Taiyaki.

If you want to travel as though you live in Kyoto, how about going to Fushimi Otesuji shopping street?

Madoi-Syokudou

It was a day off, and I went to Madoi-Syokudou to have lunch with my husband. Madoi-Syokudou is one of many folksy restaurants around our guesthouse.

That is about 5 minutes by bicycle. It was not crowded on Saturday.

I ordered a fried seafood mix that was delicious and crunchy. My husband ordered a pork cutlet. Both 950 yen with a drink and soup.

As well there was hamburger and an omelette.
I want to eat hamburger, next time.

Nijo Castle

I passed in front of Nijo Castle a few days ago. Nijo Castle was built in 1603. There were a lot of tourists.

There are many sightseeing spots in Kyoto. Guests who stayed at our guesthouse told us that Kyoto is very beautiful or gorgeous but it's usual for me, because I was born and I grew up in Kyoto.
I remembered what they said, so I want to enjoy Kyoto more.
If you come to Kyoto, how about enjoying it with us?

Children's Day

Children's Day is a national holiday in Japan. We hope for healthy growth and happiness for children and display decorated Boys' May Festival dolls in my room.

Carp streamers are displayed in many places. When I was a child, it was pleasant to have played with my mother and brothers on children's day. Now, I want to give some happy memories to my sons.

How to enjoy Kura-Sushi

There are many Kaiten-sushi restaurants in Japan. Kura-Sushi is one of several Kaiten-sushi restaurants, and my family likes most of them. Those sushi are sanitary because they are in a plastic container. There is a lot on the menu in addition to the sushi. For example udon, ramen, tempura, bowl, cakes, coffee, and so on. Besides that, children can enjoy a game in their seat.

A little while ago, we went to Kura-Sushi with guests and their children. They enjoyed it very much. They went there again before going back to their own country.

When you go for the first time, it may be slightly difficult because the explanation is only in Japanese.

I will explain the usage of the Kura-Sushi.
You can find a touch panel when you enter the restaurant and the reservation of seats in the touch panel. Touch either the blue or green button. Green is for table seating, and blue is for counter seating.

Next, Touch the number of people and by touching the button above, you can reserve the time you are viewing.

You take a ticket that comes out. It's better to ask the clerk "Please call me if it is my turn". While you are waiting, try to practice taking a demonstration dish. It is next to the cash register. Hold the brown part with one hand, and raise the dish with the other hand.

Please enjoy the Kura-Sushi.
If you stay in our guesthouse, shall we go to Kura-Sushi together?
